Have a Sweet Celebration for National Cupcake Day!

Happy National Cupcake Day! There is a lot to celebrate in December, but today is the perfect excuse to add in one more celebration. Cupcakes came back on the scene fast and furious in the late 90’s (has it been that long?!). We think they’ve stuck around because people remembered how great an individual serving of cake actually is. If you feel like celebrating Cupcake’s special day, here are some great places to grab one. Or two. Or a dozen.

Urban Cookies Bake Shop

This locally-owned business has been around for more than 15 years. In addition to their unique cupcake flavors, they offer gluten-free and vegan options that will not disappoint. If their multiple awards and recognitions are enough to convince you, just check out their menu. All of the selections are delicious, but try the Hot Cocoa or Winter Wonderland flavors for a perfect mid-month celebration of the season. As if all this baking weren’t enough, Urban Cookies has supported Phoenix-area organizations since it’s inception. A Bakeshop

National Cupcake Day is near to A Bakeshop’s heart, since cupcakes are where their whole shop started. Whether you get their minis or full-sized, definitely make sure to sample a few. Any one of their full-size cake flavors can be made into cupcakes, but be sure to check with the store to see which flavors they are rotating in the minis.

Barb’s Bakery

Barb’s is almost less of a bakery and more of an institution in Central Phoenix. They have a walk-in bakery with tables if you want to enjoy a croissant or muffin with your morning coffee before picking up your cupcake order. They have standard flavors kids love, but some grown-up flavors like Pink Champagne and Cosmopolitan as well. Barb’s is not only tasty and classic, they’re very budget friendly, too.
